Hey, it's Emma
Emma Forhan is a Toronto-based comedy writer and filmmaker. But before that, she was just a kid who accidentally scored goals on her own soccer net, too busy daydreaming to chase a ball.
Whether she was doodling in arts and crafts or dancing and singing around the house, Emma was brimming with creative energy, imagination, and a flair for the dramatic. Her parents, thinking she’d signed up for a dance class, enrolled her in musical theatre.
Though it ignited a lifelong grudge against Annie, something about the stage stuck. Emma kept at it, playing roles that ranged from the everyday to the iconic—like “Wall” and “Old Hag.” She even completed an intensive at the New York Film Academy. But it wasn’t until she wrote, directed, and starred in a play for the Sears One Act Play Festival that Emma realized she could pursue more than just chorus parts in school plays.
Emma began studying film at Columbia College Chicago, with a minor in voiceover, before going on to complete a BFA in photography from OCAD University. She threw herself into all aspects of production, but storytelling held a special appeal. Still, she didn’t consider writing more than a hobby at the time.
In 2024, Emma co-wrote the Second City sketch comedy revue Felt Funny, Might Delete Later and graduated from a year-long comedy writing program.
Professionally, Emma has collaborated with entrepreneurs, artists, and creators on diverse commercial and creative projects. She has edited music videos and short films with over 500K views, co-written a Second City sketch revue, and directed and filmed artist profiles.
Currently, Emma works as a Creative Content Producer for TO Live, where she photographs live performances, interviews actors, and produces editorial video content supporting shows at Meridian Hall, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, and Meridian Arts Centre.
She is also the co-founder of LOUDMOUTH Productions, creating and producing digital content and live events alongside comedians, musicians, and filmmakers.
